The Mirror
Death
Irritating as I can no longer remember what I wanted to say about this.
I think the clue is in the 'and' - I'm hinting at some aspect of disembodied state. In some way one has to be dead in order to see oneself, that is perhaps to seek oneself, in the mirror. So there are some interesting and fundamental issues here that tie in with the Bardo Thedol.
That is, from my perspective, with intrinsic thought processes that have been explored in other cultures and are touched on again, as an inevitability, in the free ranging exploration made by Lacan (and the Lacanians).
It is perfectly true that I have always thought that Middle School psychoanalysis was very poor in its exploration of ... what, is this psychosis?
In the end we want the tools of our trade, concepts of psychoanalysis here, to be up to the job of capturing, describing and communicating, the three activities not being the same, to be adequate. I had not found this so. Particularly not so if we want to think about the psychic states associated with the Internet.
